About Planet Bike
In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.

Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

5 out of 5 stars Very Nice!! Very Bright!!   July 27, 2010
Len Eisenberg
You are not going to believe the amount of light that comes out of this little
and light-weight flasher!!
I was totally surprised by the tiny size only to be further shocked by it's brightness. Believe me, no one is going to come up behind you, day or night without seeing you. It's THAT bright.
There are three options for attaching it. The clip is the least effective of the
three. Just not strong or stable enough to hold onto the bike. It is an option for attaching to your clothing or belt only, IMO.
There are two ring sizes that come with it and you will find a way to mount it on the bike with one of them.
I highly recommend this for maximum rear visibility.

5 out of 5 stars Tiny Tail Light With Amazing Output   July 26, 2010

I use this light all the time when I ride, day or night, and have received comments about how visible it makes me. I really love it, and I may be able to avoid getting squished before my 50th birthday by some idiot inattentive driver texting her BFF!

5 out of 5 stars Super Visibility rear light   July 23, 2010

This is an amazing light for the price. It is super bright, almost blinding if you look right at it. During the day, it is very visible and at night, you can't be missed. I also like the fact that planet bike donates part of its profits to bike advocacy.

5 out of 5 stars You WILL be seen   July 17, 2010

I have about 4 or 5 of these. They are all great, not one has broken, and I use them about half the year when it is dark on my ride home from work.

5 out of 5 stars Daytime running light   July 13, 2010

This light may actually be too bright for nighttime use, that's how bright it is. I try not to ever ride at night, but I often push it in the evening or end up having a flat or something that brings me home after sundown, so I've tried to keep a working tail light on my bike and only turned it on when it started getting dark. I always seem to have enough light to navigate by, and I don't worry about the cars I see, I worry about the moron on their cellphone coming up behind me. This light has changed my routine. I now turn it on anytime I'm on a busy road. Here's what changed my mind: I often ride on US 40 in Indiana, which is a lightly traveled four-lane mostly-divided highway. It gets a lot of bicycle traffic, and most motorists are aware enough to give you a little space. However, cars travel in packs and it's not unusual for someone to be "boxed" into the right lane, nor is it unusual for someone to just hold their line like you aren't even there, or sometimes even drift into you. When I started using this light (in the flash mode) I immediately noticed a change in peoples' behavior. Virtually no one passes me in the right lane now. It's such a marked change that I can tell when I've forgotten to turn it on! Apparently the bright flashing red light really cuts through to their conscious mind (because their subconscious is thinking "cop"?) and they do whatever they have to to get over. I'm buying another one for my daughter and I will insist she run it anytime she's riding her bike. A few other observations:
* I expected battery life to be short as bright as this baby is (and I don't care because if my life isn't worth the price of a few AAs why am I bothering), but so far it seems to be doing amazingly well, though I think it starts to dim a bit long before they go dead.
* Aiming the light is critical, and not so easily done. Aim the light so it's pointing straight back, not too far left/right or up/down, or you'll not get the benefit it's brightness, and clamp it down tight (which changes the aim, so it may take you several tries to get it right) so it doesn't move when you turn it on and off, which is likely because...
* The switch is kind of hard to activate, and lacks the real positive tactile feedback that lets you know you've hit it, consequently you have a good chance of crashing while you're looking back trying to figure out if you really got it switched into the right mode. (A sensible person would stop and get off their bike to do this, but hey, you know...)
