My boys 7 and 10 LOVE this! The deal is you have to place it on a very level surface in your yard. If you don't have a level surface don't get it because the water won't stay in it or will run to one end and will be too deep there and not deep enough on the other end! Next, it says in the directions you should NOT run on the surface without using the skim board. This is very true, it is easy to slip and fall! And to the person whoes husband broke his ancle... it also says that this is NOT MEANT FOR ADULTS OR LARGE TEENAGERS! As the saying goes, the bigger you are the harder you fall! My youngest likes to run and hop on the board on his knees. My older son is getting very good at standing up and "surfing". They have both fallen many times...but they are kids so when they fall they don't weigh as much and don't have far to fall so they don't get hurt like a larger adult would. It is recommened for ages 8+ but my seven year old enjoys it alot! Much younger than this and they probably wouldn't be able to hop on it fast enough to build up the speed you need to "skim" the surface. Be careful of getting it for big kids who are about adult sized for the reason mentioned above. Last but not least, the waterjets shown in the picture are not there (at least on the one that we baught) even though ours also showed it in the picture. But this doesn't matter one bit to the fun level my boys have with it. Like I said, they LOVE it! And that my friends is the DEAL with this toy! :)

We found out the trick to be sure it is level. My kids and neighbors, age 10,13, and 15 have an absolute blast skimboarding. They tried it on the grass and it didn't work as well as it was not as level. Now they put it on the sidewalk on top of old pieces of carpet and rugs. The slide is very level and they have alot of fun skimboarding on it. Also if they fall they land on the softer surface or in the grass on the sides. Excellent - a fantastic thing to keep older children busy. They pick it all up themselves and lay the carpet and slide out to dry. No complaints on cleaning up as it is their favorite thing to do!!!

This was purchased as a gift. Great looking gift, it looks very expensive and was a hit! I bought 2 so that I could hold on to 1 and have a great priced gift ready for giving.

We got this for our great-grandson's 8th birthday. He was so excited when he saw it in the package he was rolling on the floor. He was in awe of actually having one. He and his 10 year old sister are having so much fun on it. It was a great buy!

I'm 13 years old and i find this fun! I read the reviews before purchasing it at the store and i wasn't sure about it. We bought it and it is very fun to slide down with your body. I havent yet tryed to use the skimboard and i dont think i will. but uses it just as a slip n slide is awesome cause its so long!
