Product Description Swim Step 3's graduated support gives parents a swim training system-all the tools kids need to feel empowered in the water. This graduated flotation device advances swimming abilities at the child's own pace. Hidden pockets keep flotation pads secure. You can adjust the cords to help create a snug fit and keep kids feeling confident. This Medium size is perfect for kids who are ready to swim!
Editorial Review Endorsed by three-time Olympic gold medalist Josh Davis, this is an ingenious system designed for 3-to-6-year-olds who weigh between 35 and 55 pounds. Under adult supervision, youngsters sandwich themselves between two green foam plates that are equipped with Velcro shoulder straps and slide toggles for adjustable fit. The ingenuity is in the composition of those foam plates: They're each composed of nine slices of foam. As a child's swimming skills increase with time, these float pads can be removed one by one; soon kids will be dog-paddling with the best of 'em--and all by themselves! If it's not a perfect substitute for swimming lessons from a qualified instructor, the Safe T. Seal Power Swimr Swim Trainer does provide a wonderful way for kids to gain confidence in the water. --Tony Mason

safty July 16, 2010 Judith A. Castiglione (nj) i cant say this helps a child learn to swim, but i can say it stops them from sinking totally. the design is perfect , they cant get out of it unless they leave the pool and they cant sink or drown with it on. they remain upright at all times. they do not go forward or backwards. i also tried the lifegaurd vest extremely uncomfortable and rises to cover the lips of the child. may be great in a shipwreck but not for the pool. this swim bubble is so comfortable to the child. packed the other lifeguard one away and just use this one now
EXCELLENT Early Swimmer helper May 20, 2010 Katy May (Atlanta, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this for my daughter when she was three up until she could swim on her own around 5 yrs old. My sister had recommended it to me, because she used them for all 4 of her children (ages 10, 8, 6 and 2). She has had the same one for all three of her oldest children to use - so it is well worth the $$ if you have multiple children. I sold my daughters after she learned to swim, but recently bouught two for my two little nephews (4 and 2) to use this summer. The 4 year old was so afraid of the water and we slo0wly took him out with the noodle, but that didn;t provide enough help keeping his head out of the water. We got this on him and he can't WAIT to go to the pool. He is having a BLAST in the water now. The 2 year old is just starting to try it out, but has been a little more hesitant - he may still be just a tad too young to enjoy the freedom it offers.
All I can say is this swim helper is great for the child and parent(s). For the child who likes the water but won;t let go of their mommy out of fear, this device will let them have their own fun in the water and get them using their legs and arms to keep their bodies vertical and to move around the pool. It has 9 flotation pads in it - 5 in the back and 4 in the front. When your child gets used to it and is getting stronger, then you take one of the pads out of the back. It's just enough where they won't notice, but they will have to work just a little bit harder to stay vertical. And you conitniue removing pads (next in the front, then back, and so on).
For the parents it is a real life saver. You don't HAVE to be in the pool anytime your child wants to go in, because they don;t HAVE to hang onto you anymore. When you are in the pool you can be more interactive with your child, teching them how to blow bubbles, kicking their feet or just playing silly games.
This flotation/swim helper is worth its' weight in gold. You will be glad you spent the $15.
I would rate it 5 stars if not for the durability September 27, 2009 Island Mommy I purchased this for my 2.5 year old son who is a water baby at best. Living in an island location, it was very important to get my son swimming as soon as possible, and I loved the concept of this product as soon as I saw it. The arm floatiies that my son had were good at holding him up but they didn't allow him to move his arms to help him get used to treading water and floating by using his arms and legs. This product does this wonderfully. It gives him full rane of motion and it gives him great confidence in the water and I really loved the ability to remove the inserts as he gets more and more comfortable with the water. The one major downfall was the durability. It may be because we were using this in a lot of salt water pools but the steams that kept the velcro in place started to come apart within a few weeks and I had to re-sew them all back, which hasn't really helped since the integrity of the seams is poor all over so when I sew up one area, another area starts to fall apart. I really wish the material was better, because I really love this product. I may break down and buy another one next year to see if maybe I received a bum product the first time around, because it really is a great concept.
Power Swimmer Medium August 8, 2009 Carol B. Lewis (Athens, Ohio USA) Wonderful product. My grandsons used these for the first time this summer and with floatie wings are swimming unassisted. They even felt safe enough to come down a slide. There ages are 3 1/2 and 2
seal rubbed off first time in pool June 29, 2009 M. Glad (Peoria, IL USA) We bought the power swimmer b/c my son had done well in swimming lessons but we needed a little reasurance that he would be ok in the pool without watching him every single second or while our backs are turned. Works very well to promote continued swimming confidence and skill ability. However, the very first time we took the float device in the pool the Seal rubbed right off, in the water! My son LOVES animals and was so upset that his floatie no longer had a seal, he claims it's broken. For 17.99 it should have stayed on! Or at least through a few days of swimming, not to disinigrate before our eyes!
